Montana! Wow is all I can say. While it was 100 degrees in Houston, were we live, we “suffered” with temps from 40 degrees to 80 degrees. We had rain, wind and sunshine while there. We fished hard from the beginning to the end, but don’t forget to look around. We encountered Moose on the river and while at the dinner table. Had bald eagles, ospreys and Sand Hill Cranes flying all around us. Watched new snow accumulate over the week on mountain peaks. We fought some fish forever, some were quick; but all were memorable. Nothing however was as great as experiencing it with my wife Kelly. MVR matched us up with the perfect guide. Our personalities were very much in sync and we had a blast on the river. When we got back to the ranch we sat down and ate appetizers with everyone discussing the days events. We then moved to the dinner table for a fantastic dinner. The only thing that topped dinner was being able to sit around with other guest we had just met and have great conversations. Madison Valley Ranch and their staff give you the ability to unplug, fish and relax.

Susan and I have fished domestically and internationally with Orvis endorsed providers including the Crystal Creek Lodge in Alaska and Nomads of the Sea in Chile. I have to say that the Madison Valley Ranch experience is simply a “10”.

The lodge and guest rooms are so well appointed, the management team are so welcoming and professional, the meals are superb and the guide service is top notch. Manuela and Zach reached out to us daily to be sure our needs were met. The chefs more than accommodated Susan’s vegetarian diet with flare and care.

Of course fishing the legendary Madison River and staying at what we consider a legendary ranch property puts the Madison Valley Ranch experience at the top of our fly fishing travels.

I think the fact that this year marked our 10th visit to Madison Valley Ranch says it all! We started coming in 2005 and have never had anything but a perfect experience over all these years and visits. The quality of everything the lodge offers has remained consistent since 2005 and we are already booked for trip #11 in 2020!

This was our 9th consecutive visit to MVR. As with the previous 8 visits this one was also a great experience. The accommodations, food , fishing and especially the people are wonderful. Lodge managers Manu and Zach greet you like family and are always available to ensure that any needs you may have are met . Executive chef Matt and his staff use local ingredients to prepare very creative and very well presented meals. After a day of fishing, tasty appetizers are served at cocktail hour prior to a four course dinner that is served in just the right proportions. Rooms are very clean , comfortable and well appointed. The fishing guides are very knowledgeable about the Madison River. They will put you on fish and also provide instruction to make you a better fly fisher. We had several great days of fishing despite some cold weather. The fish do not care if it’s cold. We will be booking our next visit very soon. Thank you Manu, Zach, Parker and Chef Matt for another great adventure at MVR.

The reviews are true… Madison Valley Ranch is where you’ll want to be for an awesome fly-fishing vacation!

From the warm welcome on your arrival from Manu, Zach or Parker you will be made to feel at home throughout your entire stay. There will be nothing lacking in food, accommodation or facilities. Special effort will be made to accommodate your tastes and particular wishes at mealtimes. Every meal is a enhanced by excellent conversation and camaraderie of your fellow guests. A clean room and a comfortable bed will be ready for you at the end of a full-day, exploring and / or fishing. Madison Valley Ranch has it all.

Days on the river will be memorable and your guide will put you onto many fish, whether you choose to fish only the Madison River or, decide to venture beyond the waters that lie within the spectacular Madison Valley. Being the curious kind, I choose to venture beyond, and Manu ensured that my itinerary was filled with exciting options during my most-recent stay. I would encourage you to take advantage of Madison Valley Ranch’s expertise in arranging a fly-fishing vacation in Montana that you will not forget!

I look forward to my return dates in 2020!

We love the Madison Valley Ranch! MVR is special people and an unequaled place dedicated to providing an amazing fly fishing experience. One of the super friendly lodge managers will be out the door to meet you by name upon arrival, and that begins a visit which covers fishing, meals from a master chef, and 24/7 hospitality. We have fished several other award winning Orvis lodges, and all were exceptional, but MVR exceeds even those of the highest Orvis standards.

Our fishing days began with a sumptuous breakfast, time to get our gear organized, and then time to meet our guide, by far the single best guide we have encountered in visits across the American West. While drifting the Madison, He put us on beautiful wild rainbows and browns and even a spectacular fat cutthroat. We saw cow and bull moose, whitetail deer, red fox, river otters, pronghorns, and both bald and golden eagles. There is surely more to see, but concentrating on your drifting fly gets in the way of sightseeing. One day as we approached our take out point, our guide said “left side of the boat, be ready”, and we were able to nail a double on a pair of chunky 18” rainbows. What a rush, and what a magical way to end the day!

Happy hour snacks and a terrific meal were right on target after a great day on the water. We found dinner to be uniquely comprised, beautifully presented, and delicious. The fishing conversations around the dinner table only whetted our appetite for the next day on the Madison.

We have already made our MVR reservation for next year and will continue to do so into the future. MVR is an experience a fly fisher would not want to miss. Our heartfelt thanks to the management team and staff for making us part of the MVR family.

Flew into Ennis with a friend to try our hand at the Madison in late August. Was a little worried about the window as late August can be great hoppers and it can also be a shutout. Was our first trip to MVR but was there to celebrate a dear friends’ 60th. Have fished all over the world in some of the best lodges and is some very tough back country self guided places. MVR was exceptional. The food was top notch at every meal. The staff was friendly and focused on the clients having a wonderful time. Fishing turned out to be excellent. If you want to hit the many rivers NW of Yellowstone MVR is a great choice.

I’ve been to MVR on executive retreats as well as taken both my wife and son individually, every trip has provided exceptional professional and personal experiences that we’ll always remember. The entire staff, facilities and overall experience is world class, consistent and professional at every level from booking thru arrival and accommodations to the incredible guided fishing on some of the most beautiful rivers you’ll ever come across.

Great fishing, great food, great friends. The Madison is a great river. The guides are great teachers. This is a great place for first-time fly fishers to learn and catch fish as well as for experts. The food is exceptional. The menus include unique salads, soups, entrees, and deserts with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. The guests were interesting, from all over the country. Last but not least, the staff is friendly and engaged. MVR is a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

If I could rate MVR a “6”, I would! Manu, Zach and the entire staff are fantastic and went out of their way to make sure we were having a great experience! The lodge and grounds are immaculate and the surroundings are truly amazing. The food was comparable to some of the finest restaurants I have been to and the atmosphere was like being among friends. Our guides were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and truly “world class” fishing guides. We caught lots of fish and they went out of their way to help accommodate our 91 year old Dad. (Thanks again!). MVR is definitely one to put on the top of your list for your next fishing adventure. Also, whatever you envision about Montana, multiply it X 10. Absolutely beautiful ! Many thanks to all at MVR for a great experience!

Beautiful Property. Excellent food. Attentive, accommodating, and cordial staff. Guides are top-notch and know the rivers well. Staying in Ennis puts you right in the heart of several rivers within an easy drive. I have no reservations in recommending Madison Valley Ranch to anyone seeking great fishing, great lodging, and five star dining.

The owners of MVR had the good sense to locate the ranch in one of the most scenic places in the USA and then build the lodge on one of the great trout streams in the entire world. Add an extremely attentive staff and a gourmet chef and you have the makings of a five star resort. And that’s before accounting for fly fishing guides who can put you on great water with plenty of fish throughout the day. From sun-up to past sundown, the experience was one of the better vacations we’ve had and that includes plenty to do for my wife who does not fish! We will definitely return.

MVR was so great for so many reasons. The scenery was just beautiful and the fishing was great fun. Even though we were just beginners, the guides were so good, we were able to catch a lot of fish. The staff….there is not just enough words to say how excellent they are. Manu, Zach and Chef Matt are absolutely the best. I have never been anyplace where the staff made you feel so right at home. There wasn’t anything they wouldn’t do to accommodate their guests and make them comfortable. So thoughtful and gracious.

My wife and I were hoping to sneak in a nice late-summer getaway in Montana when we happened upon the Madison Valley Ranch. A great stroke of luck indeed! We spent four nights in the “Madison” room of the main lodge and three days drift fishing different sections of the famed Madison River. Our room was cozy, clean and well-appointed, the meals were first-rate (thank you Matt and team!), and the entire staff overwhelmingly friendly and attentive (Manu and Zach are hospitality rock stars!).

Our fishing experience on the Madison was everything your could dream for, but the real difference was the excellence of the guides. We worked with two guides over our three days, and they both proved to be outstanding instructors for my less-experienced wife and possessed an almost uncanny sense of where the big fish were holding. I should note that we left all of our fishing gear at home, and it was nice to be fully outfitted with fine Orvis equipment upon our arrival.

In summary, if you are looking for an outstanding outdoor experience with top-notch lodging, meals, guides and fishing, look no further than the Madison Valley Ranch. We intend to return every summer!

The Madison Valley Ranch is a five star establishment! The week we spent at the ranch exceeded our expectations. The lodge was beautiful, the staff was amazing, and the wildlife was abundant. This trip was a dream come true for us.

When a friendly person comes out to greet you by your name as you arrive at MVR, you know that that a sense of “home” exudes here. From the kitchen staff to hours spent daily with our guides, we felt as if we were part of a large family that seeks to make our time there meaningful as well as enjoyable. Despite the cold mornings, we managed to catch trout daily using Orvis rods and reels that landed, for me, a 22 inch brown trout and a 19 inch rainbow and many other smaller ones Meals shared with other fishers at breakfast and dinner brought delightful exchanges of our love for catch and release of trout and being in one of Mother Natures’ beautiful valleys with views of snow capped mountains where the Madison River flows freely. Gratitude goes to all the folks who work together to make MVR a place to call “home” beyond the four days we fished there.

My son and I have fished together for many years and always look forward to our next adventure wherever it may take us. This year my son suggested Montana and so I began my research. As I searched on both Orvis and Yellow Dog the Madison Valley Ranch stood out from all the rest. The location, the lodge and its cuisine and of course, the quality of the guides.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and realized we made the right choice. The staff showed genuine interest in ensuring we had a great experience from the start and continued to exceeded our expectations throughout the week.

Our guide was experienced, friendly and displayed his knowledge of the Madison River as the weather and conditions changed each day.

We cannot say enough about the Ranch and the other guests we met that week. It all made for a truly memorable experience which we plan on repeating next year.

This was our 7th trip to MVR. Manu met us at the lodge with big hugs. We felt like we were home with family. Our room was comfortable and well appointed with some upgrades since last year, new carpeting and lights. Very nice. There was a variety of wildlife to enjoy watching in the meadows by the lodge, moose, cranes, antelope. The moose in particular was unusual to see. As always the food at every meal was superb. Matt the chef and his staff are very creative and prepare perfect portion sized meals using many local ingredients. The fishing guides were again amazing, very knowledgeable and put us on the fish despite cooler conditions at this time of year. We caught some very nice size trout. Every day when we returned from fishing Kaitlin or Manu greeted us enthusiastically wanting to hear all about our day on the river. Thank you MVR staff for another wonderful experience.

Madison Valley Ranch is situated in a beautiful area in the Ennis valley of Montana. The staff…hostesses, chef and kitchen assistants, and river guides are all top-notch, knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly. The lodge and cabins are warm and well appointed. Food is very tasty and varied. All in all, a great home away from home. I drove 2500 miles to spend a few days there, it was my second trip to this great destination. I even found some of the old faces from 17 yrs. ago still guiding on the famous waters of southwestern Montana. I would heartily recommend it to anyone desiring to visit this gorgeous part of the country. You will not be disappointed.

MVR is for the serious flyfisher. Floats on the Madison are full day adventures with patient and attentive guides. We learned a great deal from each of them and caught plenty of fish. The food is quite good and the personal service is beyond excellent. Kaitlin, Manu, and the rest of the MVR staff are terrific. You will also find Ennis, Mt. interesting. How many places have more fly shops (4) by far than any other business?

A very supportive staff, experienced guides and delicious food made our trip to Madison Valley Ranch an unforgettable experience.

My brother and I loved our stay at the Madison Valley Ranch. Four things stood out for us. First, Kaitlin, Manu, Matt and the other members of the lodge staff couldn’t have been more friendly and more accommodating. For example, on our arrival, before we were out of our car, Kaitlin was outside to welcome us. She got us settled, gave us a tour of the ranch and was a delightful host throughout our stay. Also, one morning, we needed to leave the ranch at 5:00 a.m. so we could be on the Jefferson River by 6:00 a.m. Matt saw to it that our breakfast was waiting for us at 4:30 a.m. Absolutely, a five-star ranch staff.

Second, the lodge accommodations are made for relaxation after a long day on the river. Our room was comfortable, generous in size and gave us the feeling of privacy. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed having direct access to the Madison River and the ranch’s trout pond, which we found to be full of scrappy fish. We loved joining the other guests for hors d’oeuvres, which were served outside on the patio before dinner, and for the dinners themselves which were wonderful, as were our breakfasts each morning and lunches on the river each day. . Third, the Madison Valley Ranch guides are first rate. We appreciated that our guide recognized our levels of fishing expertise and accommodated the trip accordingly, with clear directions during our floats regarding the locations where fish were holding and excellent positioning of the boat so that both fishermen in the front and back of the boat had great access to fish. He also provided lots of information about the rivers we fished, the surrounding beautiful scenery AND he put us on a lot of BIG fish!!

Finally, we enjoyed the collegiality of the Ranch. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits with the other guests and had ample opportunity to learn a bit about them and to compare fishing stories after a day on the water. They complimented our Madison Valley Ranch experience and made us eager to return.

OUTSTANDING in every way…hospitality, fishing, guides, meals, accommodations. My three sons and I stayed for 5 nights in early September. Kaitlin and Manu and staff treated us like family, Matt’s meals were delicious and guides Art and Rob were great! Everything they advertise is true. Could have used their equipment for whole trip. Fish pond is an added treat and fun. We’ll be back!

I really enjoyed the experience at MVR. The accommodations, food, welcoming atmosphere, personal attention, and fabulous fishing experience were far beyond expectations. The entire staff is dedicated to making your vacation one you will remember and cherish.

MVR has become an annual destination for my three college classmates and myself. After long research, we chose MVR as best overall for our annual fly-fishing trip. We have never been disappointed. Accommodations, cuisine, equipment, staff, guides and fishing are excellent.

From the time we arrived, til our departure the staff did everything to make us feel welcome and numerous times were concerned if we needed anything. If we did, it was taken care of immediately. Food and dining experience 5 star plus!!! Now for the fishing experience, our guide was fabulous. Truck and boat spotless, very knowledgeable of the river and what flies would be best. Good conversation and skill makes the day fly when you have a top notch guide. Looking to return next year!!!

Our fly fishing expeirece, accomodations, hospitality was just about as good as it gets. We now include the Madison Valley Ranch on anual must vist. Thanks to our great guide Garrett and the warmth of the lodge managers Manu and Kaitlin we experienced the fly fishing trip of a lifetime.

My wife and I decompressed the last three days at MVR towards the end of of our 12-day MT trip. What a treat: nice rooms, excellent food, amazing service and some good fishing in August. We had two amazing guides on our two days of fishing. Loved the small pond out front (caught two 24″+ rainbows although they were harder than I expected.) Make sure to visit the Channels and wade–wonderful experience.

There was also an Orvis trout school going on during the same time we were there. If Pete Kutzer is teaching again next year, make sure to book the trip. He’s an excellent teacher and his fly casting style is amazing.

Incredible combination of great fishing, superb guides, excellent accommodations and food, and super staff.

Had an awesome time at the Madison Valley Ranch!! Kaitlin and other members of the staff were outstanding and made us feel like family. Everything, including the food, amenities, fishing guides and room accommodations were exceptional. We had two different fishing guides – both were excellent and enjoyable to spend time with. I highly recommend MVR to anyone.

What a wonderful Christmas gift from my wife for my son and I to learn and experience Fly Fishing at Madison Valley Ranch. The trip was memorable due to the people staffing the ranch, from the initial greeting, hosting and superb hospitality provided by Kaitlin and Manu’s over the top organizational skills coordinating mornings and fishing departures. Their abilities combined with the great food, evening gatherings and the beautiful setting and accommodations of the ranch resulted in a fantastic experience.

What about the fishing?

Our fishing guide, Art, taught us all we know about fly fishing including his secrets to catching lots of fish (we lost count the first day). He created a great adventure on the Madison River but please don’t ask him about the one that got away.

All in all it was a great trip, one I will to do again and highly recommend to anyone from beginners to the most experienced.

Thanks Madison Valley Ranch for a memorable adventure.

My son and I had the time of our lives. The team at MVR make you feel like family and no detail is missed. The food, rooms, and grounds are spectacular. The fishing guides were so knowledgeable and friendly that you can’t wait to get back out on the water.

I was not a fly fisherman. My twin sister was an experienced fly fisherman. My company gave us the trip to MVR as a retirement gift. After 8 weeks of fly fishing lessons, I was ready for my adventure. It was wonderful, and our guide Justin was a great teacher. I loved it and didn’t want it to end. Thank you to all of the staff and guests at MVR for making the trip such a wonderful experience

Best lodge experience around, bar none. I can’t wait to return for another visit.

The accommodations and dining was magnificent! The service by everyone of the team was top notch!

Did a lot of research on Montana fishing areas and decided on MVR. Couldn’t have made a better choice. The staff and our guide were so accommodating, attentive and caring!!! The river is amazing, and so was the fishing.

Terrific accommodations, food was over the top. Fishing was very good and the guides went out of their way to make sure you caught fish. My wife who is a beginning fisherman cannot wait to go back next year. I don’t know how it could be any better. We will go back.

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our all too brief stay at the Madison Valley Ranch. We had first rate fishing that included experiencing the Salmon Fly hatch. The food was excellent, and the staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful. About as good as it gets.

Madison Valley Ranch is a dream come true for anyone looking for a first class fly fishing experience. The accommodations are comfortable, food is superb, hosts are professional and friendly and the guides skilled. The Madison river lives up to its reputation as one of the top fly fishing rivers in American. All in all, regardless of experience, a stay at MVR will delight you.

On the plane back home to Nashville and just bummed out that I had to leave. I really could have spent another week or two out there. The people who work at the ranch are extremely friendly and accommodating. The location of the lodge was fantastic, even the little pond was fun and loaded with some big rainbows. The group of guides were all first class. I’m. It sure if I just got lucky but the different groups who stayed there were all very cool and made the trip that much better. I would definitely head out there again next summer. A little gem in Ennis.

This was our 2nd year at the MVR, & it continues to be terrific! Could not ask for better customer service/hospitality from the whole staff. Food is delicious, cabins are clean & have everything one might need, guides are knowledgeable, & fishing the Madison in June during salmon hatch is a blast. Would highly recommend this lodge, & hope to get back there next year. Thanks, Team!!

As an Orvis endorsed lodge I had high expectations for the Madison Valley Ranch (MVR). My friend and I were not disappointed. The lodge itself is located in a beautiful setting with the Madison River, a large pond and stream on the property. The pond was full of rainbows averaging 18 to we’ll over 20 inches. They’re not that easy to catch, but a great way to warm up or cool down from a drift on the Madison.

The lodge itself is beautiful, from the family style dining room, living room area, and upstairs entertainment room. There’s a fully stocked tackle shop with gear and fly fishing clothing. The shop is left open 24/7 for you to borrow the many rigged up fly rods for use on the property. You may purchase fly fishing clothing and gear you may need there as well. just write down any items on the numerous clip boards at the lodge and purchases will be added to your bill. Also, snacks, beer (great local micro brews) and wine are available 24/7 in the dining room.

I can go on and on. The most important thing that made this four night, four day fishing trip outstanding was the MVR staff. Kaitlin, Manu, Matt and the rest of the staff made you really feel at home. They engaged themselves with all the guests and more than that they’re fly fisherman.

I would highly recommend the MVR to any level or beginner fly fisherman. It’s also a great family vacation as well. There were several families during our stay and all were having a great time. You will not be disappointed in the entire fly fishing experience at MVR.

Our visit to Madison Valley Ranch was an awesome experience. The staff at the ranch are first class just like the accommodations. The meals were second to none as far as my experience at fishing lodges.

My business associates and I stayed at MVR June 13th through June 16th 2017 and had an absolute ball! The staff; Kaitlin, Manu and Matt made our stay exceptional! I had been out in 2015 and had a marvelous time and this time was better. If you are looking for fun fishing and great food and comradery check out MVR, you will not be disappointed!

Wow where do I start. Immediately upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Kaitlin. She gave me a tour of the facility and showed me to my room which had a wonderful of view of the channels section of the Madison. The view also include the amazing surrounding mountain ranges with their pristine snow caps. Kaitlin invited me to fish in the stocked pond on site, and i graciously accepted being that i had not picked up a fly rod in 25 years and was anxious to shake off the rust. It was wonderful fishing in the pond as i caught several very nice rainbows. I enjoyed fishing in the pond each night after dinner. The food and service was impeccable at the lodge. Matt served some amazing dishes with tasty appetizers and desserts. The selection of wine was outstanding as well. My room was large and very nicely appointed. And as I mentioned, it had a wonderful view of the river. Manu saw us off each morning for our angling experience and helped serve a wonderful breakfast. Manu was very attentive and accommodating. My guide Gunner was outstanding. I had not been fly fishing in many years, and he was very helpful. He took care of all of the logistics, and all i needed to do was get my fly in the water. We caught many nice fish on the Madison including a cutthroat and a 22 inch brown trout! A great river. I traveled solo for the trip, but I have to say the staff made me feel at home the moment I arrived. Thank you Kaitlin, Manu, and all of the MVR staff for an amazing time. Simply outstanding. If you are thinking about making the trip, quit thinking and just do it. You will not be disappointed.

Invited my adult sons to join me at MVR. It was a great trip. The location was breathtakingly beautiful. The food was so, so good. And I especially appreciated Manu & Kaitlin being such wonderful host to us and we really enjoyed our guides.

Madison Valley Ranch had my expectations high because of the great reviews I had already read, not to mention the fact that it was an Orvis Lodge of the Year. But to say that it greatly exceeded those high expectations would be underselling my experience. From the moment we arrived we were greeted at our car by the extremely friendly staff, given a tour, given some lessons on basic fly fishing technique and made us all feel right at home. The meals were all unique and seriously delicious. The guides we had each day were extremely knowledgeable, fun to be around and great to spend getting to know. I would highly recommend that anyone who has any sort of interest in fly fishing to go to Madison Valley Ranch and make some incredible memories with the staff there.

You will not be disappointed in staying at this lodge. The staff pay attention to the finest details and the food is amazing. I would rank this as one of the best lodges I’ve ever stayed in.

As soon as we pulled onto the property — I could immediately tell this was going to be an awesome lodge. Manu & Kaitlin are the perfect host. From meeting/greeting you as soon as you get out of the truck to sitting down to converse over dinner, you can tell they, along with everyone else at MVR, wants your time there to be spectacular. The property is immaculately maintained, the food and wine pairings rank right up with the top restaurants you could find anywhere, their attention to detail is simply amazing. I could go on and on about the lodge — but it’s a place you need to experience for your self to have a true appreciation for this place. As for the fishing and their guides — they are the best of the best. Brandon, Gunnar and Dave were all on top of their game and know where to find fish. They were all very informative and didn’t let the less than perfect weather conditions (an on river blizzard with 20mph gust) slow them down and kept us on fish all day despite conditions. Book this lodge.. You won’t be disappointed. I’m already planning my next trip back out there!

You receive the value you pay for this adventure. Perfect setting. Perfect staff. Perfect food and “southern hospitality” western style!! Our group felt appreciated from the time we pulled into the parking lot until we left!!

Arriving at MVR, I immediately knew it was going to be one those experiences that will leave you with – “I want to come back!” Not enough positive can be said about the fine attention to detail that the entire staff at MVR provides. If you want to have more than just a Montana trip, stay at Madison Valley Ranch.

I can’t speak highly enough of my most recent experience at the Madison Valley Ranch (April 22-25). First time fishing pre-run off and it was amazing. From 55 degrees and fishing dry-flies to 30 degrees with 3-5 inches of snow! We landed 25-40 fish each day, nothing under 12 inches, thanks to our zen master and forever giving guide Brandon Struckman. The cuisine, fishing, and comradery keep myself, my family and my close friends coming back year after year. Have been a loyal client since 2005 or 2006 never missing a year and often times coming back multiple times in any given year. My family has joined me on some of my adventures at MVR and am proud to share that all three of my children have learned to fly fish with great proficiency on the Madison River. We even named our daughter, Madison, after the river that bestows such serene beauty and yet is so giving in producing wonder trout and memories.

I’ve been three times. Madison Valley Ranch offers a wonderful experience in every aspect of fly fishing. The food is great – interesting, varied (venison, quail, duck, and trout, to mention some of the entrees), and delicious. I’ve fished different water on different rivers in lots of conditions, with some epic days. The Madison River can’t be beat. I’ve fished with multiple guides. They’ve all been friendly, good teachers, and excellent at their jobs. I’ve met many interesting people from all over the country. Perhaps best of all, Manu, Kaitlin, and Matt are not only excellent at their jobs but they’re genuinely nice people who make time spent at MVR special. I can’t wait for my next trip to MVR. Highly recommended.

Madison Valley Ranch is a great place to vacation. From Kaitlin and Manu our hosts to the chef and accommodations, this is a fabulous ranch. Great setting with wade fishing in the back yard and fantastic fishing on the rivers, this place is hard to beat! This was my fourth trip to Madison Valley Ranch and I can’t wait until my next. (ps; the fishing guides are great too. We had Brandon for two days and he is awesome. We had 4 double hook-ups/landings on this trip.)

The location and staff make this an outstanding choice for a fishing vacation. The view of the mountains from the lodge is outstanding. Food is great and the staff is as friendly as they come! Great choice of lodges bar none.

This is my 3rd year in a row at Madison Valley Ranch. The food is worthy of a fine restaurant, the atmosphere is informal and friendly, and the acommodations are clean and comfortable. The entire staff goes out of their way to make sure every need is met.

The ranch sits in a beautiful valley with surrounded by fields and mountains. Cabins are simply but tastefully furnished, and anything we needed was right there. Our front porch looked out over a field where deer came each evening to graze. The main lodge has the dining area (plenty of fresh coffee and hot tea!), space to gather for appetizers before dinner, and a fire pit. It’s a very peaceful place, and there is fishing right on the property in a stocked pond and nearby creek. We caught really large trout in the pond. Kaitlin and Manu are both amazing to work with. They are outgoing and cheerful, and they make you feel right at home from the second you arrive. They’re both constantly running back and forth to meet the needs of guests, but they also take the time to visit, and there’s a true feeling of belonging and contentment as you spend time on the property.  There’s a very special chemistry and culture at work within this group that elevates your stay at the ranch beyond just a great outdoor and fishing experience.

The staff at Madison Valley Ranch made me feel they were there just for me. The float trips were well organized and the guide was very personable. The breakfast buffets and four course dinners were delicious. I found the accommodations very comfortable. Great views in big sky country where the deer and the antelope play!

We had a week of fantastic hospitality and fishing at the Madison Valley Ranch. The entire experience, accommodations, welcoming and gracious staff, food and fishing all exceeded my expectations. The guides were experienced, knowledgeable, and provided the right balance of coaching and silence, plus they put us on really nice fish every day! I have been trout fishing in this area of Montana for over 15 years. This trip was my first staying and fishing out of MVR and by far the best experience that I have had, and hope to return again soon!

My sons and I had never fly fished and we decided to come here for a boy’s weekend. It was fantastic! The staff and guides very very patient and were very good instructors. The Ranch is very comfortable, and the food was unbelievable. It is a great location, convenient to get to, and fantastic staff. I would recommend for anybody — beginners, experienced, families.
They even arranged a horseback ride for us th day we arrived. I’d recommend Madison Valley Ranch to everybody.

This is the best fishing lodge I have ever visited, including lodges in Alaska and Argentina.

We started coming to MVR in 2005 and just can’t seem to stop! The experience has never been anything short of perfect and this year was no exception. Fishing on the Madison and surrounding waters is always amazing and we love that we can alternate between float and wade fishing for a variety of experiences. Manu and Kaitlin truly go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to meet your needs while you are there and are so welcoming. They get excited right along with you as you fill them in on the day’s fishing each night! The views all around the lodge are spectacular and there is even fishing within walking distance just behind the lodge should you have enough energy at the start or end of the day to sneak a little extra time in on the water! Matthew never disappoints at mealtime and every meal is both delicious and beautiful and the variety of dishes is endless. We hope to be back for trip #9 in the very near future!

What a great time! Fishing, Food and Fun!! This was my first visit and I loved it. I could not have enjoyed it more. Everything met or exceeded expectations. The people are all fantastic and helped make the trip even more enjoyable!

Spent three days fishing the Madison River and our guides worked hard to make sure we had a great trip and lots of fun. After fishing, we’d come back to the lodge where the friendly staff tried their hardest to make sure we enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. Great surroundings, accommodations and people. They do a wonderful job at Madison Valley Ranch!

This was my second visit to MVR and it was wonderful from the moment I arrived. The staff is so friendly and willing to do anything to help. The food was delicious and the other guests were great fun.

For the 4th year in a row, my husband and I had a wonderful fishing experience on the Madison River. The staff, guides, FOOD and atmosphere at Madison Valley Ranch are fabulous and our time there was very special. Every year we make great friends, fish ’till we drop, eat like there’s no tomorrow and to improve our fishing skills with the help of the patient and friendly guides. We’ve already booked for next year!

We went for a weekend getaway and really enjoyed the quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The guide we were set up for the two days was wonderful and very knowledgable. We caught a lot of beautiful and nice size fish both days. The accommodations at the Ranch were relaxing, lovely and perfect. Great food and wine. We loved sitting on our deck watching the wildlife appear each evening.

This June was our third trip to MVR and we loved it as much as before! We couldn’t ask for a better place to stay. Good food, good service, good accommodations, and good fishing. We’ve never felt more welcome anywhere. The staff and owners go out of their way to make sure all is well.

I am experienced angler and was looking for a lodge that would get my family hooked on fly fishing in Montana. Madison Valley Ranch was the perfect Venue. The fishing is phenomenal and offers daily guided float trips as well as onsite free lane opportunities. The guides are amazing and very patient with kids and beginners. The lodge is very friendly and well run and the food is amazing! Ennis is very hospitable and easy to reach from Bozeman. Overall an amazing visit! We will be back…My kids and wife are hooked!

This was our fifth fly fishing trip to MVR. The entire experience was exceptional. The location of the lodge is situated just a short walk to the channels section of the Madison River. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Kaitlin, Manu and chef Matt make you feel at home from the minute you arrive through your entire stay. The food is always creative and well prepared. The guides are all very experienced and knowledgable. The addition of the new free standing fly fishing shop is a big plus. The fishing was as in previous years exceptional. Can’t wait to visit next summer.

Just made my second trip to Madison Valley Ranch. While there are a lot of great fishing destinations, to me what makes an experience truly exceptional are the people — the staff, guides, chef. MVR gets great marks in all of these areas. Beautiful place, with great fishing and great people.

My father and I visited Madison Valley Ranch for a long Father’s Day weekend, and it was the perfect trip. Truly. I cannot say enough about our experience; it was absolutely fantastic. The lodge, fishing, meals etc. were all wonderful. But it was the amazing staff that truly put this trip over the top. Kaitlin, Manu, Matt, as well as the guides, all go out of their way to ensure that you have the fishing experience of a lifetime. What a treat to visit such a fantastic lodge in such a fantastic setting and then be made to feel at every moment that you are not just a customer, you are among good friends. The perfect trip.

We visited Madison Valley Ranch as a celebration for our son’s college graduation. We picked Madison Valley based on it’s ORVIS endorsement and Lodge of the Year Rating. It did not disappoint. Everything was first class: The guides, the staff, the accommodations, the food….everything! The staff create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. After dinner, we were able to continue fishing in the pond for trophy Kamloops Rainbows. There is also easy access to fishing the Channel section of the Madison on a transition day or evening. The Ranch has a new on site fly shop with Orvis rods to use in the pond and plenty of local flies. We enjoyed our entire stay and recommend Madison Valley without reservation.

As soon as we pulled in an Kaitlin the lodge manager came out to greet us I knew we would be in for fantastic 3 days of fishing and great memories. The lodge itself is set in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains, wildlife and great fishing. Our accomadations were fantastic we stayed in one of the duplexes by the hot tub. Yes I said hot tub which was great to relax in after a long day of fishing and fantastic meals. You will wake up after a relaxing night to Manu filling your coffe cup greeting you in the lodge ready to send you on your way to a fantastic day of fishing after a great breakfast. Matt the chef will not disappoint to the great breakfast made by Anthony in the morning to Matts creations in the evening to his appetizers, then on to a wonderful 4 course meal. Each dish created to perfection. Oh and don’t forget lunch on the river that your guide will provide. You will not leave hungry. We met some fun fantastic people from all over sharing our fish stories of the day always talking about the one that got away. If you want fantastic fishing top notch accomadations and a staff at a lodge that would do anything to make your stay more enjoyable stay at the Madison Valley Lodge. Thank you Kaitlin,Manu, Matt and the rest of the crew for a trip that my husband and I will always treasure .

Great experience from beginning to end. All staff cheerful, happy and so eager to please (and very successful in doing so!!!). Great food, comfortable surroundings, slept like a baby. Activities planned well and I always felt relaxed. Caught beautiful rainbow from the time we arrived until we had to depart.

A friend and I stayed at MVR in May 2016 and could not have been more pleased with all aspects of our visit. The staff, guides, food, and other amenities were first class and we were treated more as friends that came to visit than guests. Would highly recommend MVR for anyone wanting to catch great trout, see beautiful Montana, and be treated to outstanding hospitality.

A neighbor and I spent 4 days fishing on the Madison River recently. We stayed at the MadisonValley Ranch and had a fantastic experience. The Lodge personnel go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and a member of their family. The accommodations were very good and the meals were top shelf. Certainly on par with a white table cloth restaurant. The fishing guides were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. overall, a first rate experience.
