What a Great Time!

The gourmet dinners with fine wines are excellent as are the breakfasts every morning. The ranch property is worth the trip alone providing beautiful views and wildlife wherever you look. Many thanks to the entire staff. They always deliver a world-class experience. Can’t wait until next year.

Our Fishing Home

We have been to other Orvis lodges, and all have been excellent, but MVR is another cut above. The MVR staff assures that any and every thing you need will be met, and they do so in a fashion which exudes a genuine and caring approach to insuring a terrific destination fishing lodge experience.

Wonderful Experience

From the minute you arrive at the lodge you are part of their family. Laid back and fun was the theme of our experience. The service was spot on, the food delicious and rooms were impeccable. Our guide was fun, happy, thoughtful, patient and an excellent teacher. This was my first fly fishing experience and definitely not my last!

Booking Terms & Conditions

Package rates include accommodations, meals, beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, guided fishing trips, flies, casting lessons, private access to Jack Creek, our trophy trout pond and The Channels, and unrestricted use of Orvis rods, reels, lines, waders, boots and more.

Package rates do not include airfare, Montana fishing license ($32-118), Montana Lodging Tax  ($20/person/night), arrival/departure transportation, retail purchases, guide gratuities, or liquor (available in town). In addition, all credit card transactions leading up to your arrival will incur a 3% transaction fee. Please do not hesitate to ask for further information regarding the exclusions.

In fly fishing, it is customary to tip your guide at the end of each day. The average tip is between $150-250 per guide, per day. $200 per guide, per day seems to be the standard amount in this region.

If you are fishing with the same guide for consecutive days and would like to tip them after your last trip, please communicate this with them on the first day. Cash is always preferred, but we can add guide gratuities to your invoice at checkout if you’d like to pay with a credit card.

Our package rates include a standard gratuity for our lodge staff, ensuring they are recognized for their hard work. Should you wish to leave an additional tip at checkout, it is greatly appreciated but never expected, and will be evenly distributed among the team.

Round trip airport shuttles start at $340 for the first 2 passengers. Each additional 2 passengers is $40.00 roundtrip until the vehicle is full at 6 passengers. If an extra vehicle is needed, an additional full shuttle rate applies. The fare includes a brief stop, while longer stops (i.e. for lunch) are charged at $20/hr. Driver gratuity is not included in the rates and cash is the preferred method.

The best options for a commercial airline travel is Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport at Gallatin Field (BZN), serviced by Delta, Southwest, JetBlue Alaska/Horizon, United, American Airlines, Frontier, and Allegiant. It is approximately one hour from the Ranch. You might also consider looking at flights into Butte or West Yellowstone airports.

The Ennis/Big Sky Airport (KEKS) managed by Choice Aviation offers a brand-new tarmac and can accommodate large private jets. We would be happy to arrange transportation to and from this airport, which is just 15 minutes from the lodge.

Driving: Guests can drive directly to the Ranch. You may drive your own car or rent one in Bozeman. We strongly recommend reserving rental cars well ahead of your trip. Maps will be sent prior to your departure.

We frequently host group trips for companies, clubs, families, friends or special events of all sorts. With 14 guests rooms, each with 2 queen beds, Lodge Buyouts can be single occupancy, double occupancy or a mix of both for up to 28 guests. Below are our two Lodge Buyout options that accommodate various group sizes and trip purposes:

A Full Lodge Buyout means your group will have a exclusive private use of the property and the option to customize your trip to include meetings or other organized group activities. We accept full lodge buyout parties of any size up to 28 guests, however; the total rate of the trip must meet or exceed the rate of our minimum guest requirements of 18 guests (April, May & October) or 24 guests (June to October). For example, the total lodge buyout rate for 14 guests at single occupancy will be equal to that of 18/24 guests at double occupancy.

A Channels Lodge Buyout is perfect semi-exclusive option for parties of 6-16 guests. This building features 6 guests rooms for up to 12 guests and the ability to extend the size of the group by up to 4 guests using the nearby Duplex Suites for lodging purposes. The Channels Lodge has a fantastic living room and kitchen downstairs that is perfect for socializing and meeting. While the group will have exclusive private use of this building, meals will be enjoyed in our Madison Lodge with the other guests that are staying elsewhere on the property.

The process of making a reservation begins with a formal booking confirmation that effectively pencils you in for the dates and rooms requested. We are happy to give you the time you need to present the trip details to others in your party, however we will request that the deposit be paid should we receive interest for the same dates from another party.

A deposit in the amount of 50% of the total package rate is required to secure your reservation and book your fishing guides. This can be paid under one primary guest or split into individual deposits for whomever in your party.

The remaining 50% balance will be due 30 days prior to your arrival date.

A required Montana State Lodging Tax of $20/person/night is due at checkout along with any additional charges not received in the payments leading up to your arrival date.

All major credit/debit card payments and refunds made prior to the arrival date will incur a 3% transaction fee that will be added during the payment process. We strongly encourage everyone to submit their reservation payments via a mailed check or an ACH bank transfer to avoid the transaction fee.

Cancellations Made Prior to 90 Days of Arrival: Your deposit is fully refundable, less a $200 cancellation fee per person and any credit card processing fees incurred by MVR.

Cancellations Within 90 Days of Arrival: If you cancel within 90 days of your scheduled arrival, 50% of the deposit will be credited to a future lodge trip. The credited amount can be used towards a future lodge trip to be taken within one year of the cancellation. The remaining deposit is non-refundable.

Cancellations Within 30 Days of Arrival: In the event of a cancellation within 30 days of arrival, 25% of the package price will be credited to a future lodge trip. The credited amount can be used towards a future lodge trip to be taken within one year of the cancellation.

Please Note: We regret to inform you that no refund is possible for non-guided fishing days, bad weather, late arrival, or early departure. For cancellations and rescheduling, please contact our team to discuss the options available to you. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation regarding our cancellation and payment policy. Should you have any further questions or require assistance, please feel free to reach out to us.

A 50% deposit amount of the total buyout package rate is due within 14 days of receiving the booking confirmation. The remaining 50% balance is due 90 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation.

For Buyout Cancellations requested prior to 180 days of the arrival date, the deposit is fully refundable, less a $200 processing fee per person.

For Buyout Cancellations requested between 90 and 180 days prior to the arrival date, 50% of the deposit will be refunded and the remaining deposit is nonrefundable.

For Buyout Cancellations requested within 90 days of arrival, the entire 50% deposit is nonrefundable in order to cover losses incurred by Madison Valley Ranch due to short notice cancellation. Any payments made previously that are in excess of the deposit amount requested is refundable and can be applied to a future reservation for dates that are within one year after receipt of the refund/credit.

For Buyout Cancellations requested within 45 days of the arrival date, the entire package amount is nonrefundable.

We understand that circumstances may arise requiring changes to your planned Montana fly fishing trip. We highly suggest protecting your trip and future travel with Global Recue Travel Insurance, especially considering the value and piece of mind it offers. We ask everyone before making a reservation to please review our cancellation and payment policies to determine if travel insurance may be beneficial.
